President Obama signed an order reversing the Bush administration’s strict limits on human embryonic stem cell research.

i guess religion really is dwindling in america
It’s popular to promise cures for all diseases, though none are on the horizon.
1. Is spareness a criterion for growing a living human individual in separate dishes with the goal of selling its mature living parts?
2. Is it okay for a corporation to own living human individuals at any stage of their life cycle ?
3. Embryonic stem cells grown in dishes multiply AND mature. In 8 weeks an embryonic stem cell line is fetal cells. In 38 weeks, they’re infant cells.
4. Humans as property? tried before

Hey I’m post med( a practicing physician). As you’ll learn in embryology class, an embryo is a developing human individual. The embryo in the dish is born there. There is no carrying mother. An embryo’s humanness is not determined by it’s spareness. Cannibalizing our own young is not an advancement.

ok, noone would do something like that if they know the comatose would come out of their state. also, what if the embryos from which the cells are taken are within a woman who does not want a child but wants to abort it instead? it would be a better option than adoption.
In theory only. The comatose could be used for fertilizer, or to make “soylent green”, or we could use her alive kidneys, liver, heart, corneas, to help people now, not in decades, is that okay? Nope.

What you’re describing in the “pull the plug” scenario is diffrent; if the plug is pulled then the patient dies and story ends there. but with embryos and the stem cells, the cells can then be used to heal people with cancer, disabilities, and other diseases/disabilities that would be incurable otherwise.
Not for long. If a comatose patient is certain to wake up, and sit up, and speak within a few months, and walk within 2 years, would you pull the plug? If they were to forever to float around, you may have a point. Since they continue to develop, your point is moot.
They’re in a vegetative state. they cant think/move/feel/make sounds or anything. All they do is float inside the liquid within their mother’s womb.

I am a conservative, agnostic and biology major… pre-med track. Christians don’t have a problem with stem cell research. It is embryonic stem cell research and the idea of when life starts. Adult stem cell research is much more affective anyway and those cells are taken from cooperative donors not unborn children.
First off, Obama is religious and is a practicing christian so you are insulting him as well as conservatives. Second, im sure religious cooks have nothing to do with stem cells…I think cooks deal with food but i could be wrong (idiot). Its spelled kook. If you’re going to act all high and mighty, at least do YOUR research and learn to spell.
