Skinny, because the insurance is MANDATORY the Pelosi bill which levies a TAX of 2.5% of YOUR income if you cannot prove your insured has left in criminal and civil penalties if you and your family cannot afford the premium. The sections mentiond are in U.S. (tax codes)code of collection which covers” ANY willful attempts in ANY manner to evade or defeat ANY TAX”.Think of all the homeless and single mother’s and minority groups, who could see jail time and fines due to our GREEDY GOVERNMENT!

people are asking for a public option just like they always ask for free handouts from govt. i don’t pretend to know the solution as well, but i just know that a public option is a terrible way to lower costs. there are much cheaper and better ways: tort reform, portable insurance, HSA, caps on premiums, etc…

I dont just get my facts from fox, I can research it myself

  4. skinnym974 on November 28th, 2009 5:46 pm

Diezelraccoon: I certainly will not call Fox news unbiased, but biased. Fox news is however considered the most biased channel in all studies I have seen (FAIR, PEJ, PRC and so on). I also suggests you revisit the cable news rating (try getting numbers from other sources than Fox). Good luck and good day.

  5. Diezelraccoon on November 28th, 2009 5:46 pm

you can call Fox news right wing and unbiased all you want, but they have the highest ratings of all time and all those other liberal media stations ratings are in the tank cause people are waking up to their BS. Never once has fox lied to me, I was able to go find the facts for myself on anything they reported. And if fox ever misreported something, they had the balls to come out and say hey we are sorry we mislead that. You wont find that on MSNBC or CNN, FACTS FACTS FACTS

jimpodi: I am not pretending to know the solution but stating (a) people are asking for a public option [polls are not deterring regardless of partisan attempts] (b) competition and breaking monopolies are needed (c) lower cost health care for those who have none seems to be the right thing. Politicians are paid to find solutions and serve YOU. Distractions and false statements, staling debate are not what they should be doing and not serving you. I am trying to understand this debate too.

  7. jimpodi on November 28th, 2009 5:46 pm

and you think govt is the ultimate solution? i’m sorry, but that’s laughable at best. simply put, govt can’t do anything right! just look at the areas it’s tried to regulate – post office, public housing, social security, or even medicare. they all ended up costing tax payers much more than was anticipated, and with very mediocre results i might add.

goldsilverandiamonds: There is no section 7201 or 7203 in H.R. 3962. It ends at 3101 in the house version (then follows amendments). I searched for the word “felony” in the entire bill and the only thing I could find relates to communication of private information. What did you look for? Another bill perhaps?

  9. skinnym974 on November 28th, 2009 5:46 pm

goldsilverandiamonds: Thanks for your pointer. I have the initial bill and could not find it. I will get a copy of the most recent bill (on the senate floor) and get back to you.

Diezelraccoon: this must be a joke! You point at the Washington Post as being liberal and ask people to go to the so-called unbiased Fox polls to get the truth?? Perhaps this is a scoop to you but Fox is widely known (world wide that is) to be right-wing. For your information, I only look at polls from as independent as possible agencies (Ipsos in this case).

jimpodi: Agreed. There are many ways to accomplish what people want and have asked for (the polls are there). I like the idea of being able to purchase insurance across state line if the insurers are really different. My worry is that according to the American Medical Association (2007 report), 94% of the market in each states (average) is held by only a few insures and the biggest holds state wide 87% of the market. I feel cross-state line is a step but not quite the ultimate solution.

jrrglobal: There are a lot of topics for which one can wave the “if you do not see that, I cant help you”. Dismissive approach are the techniques of those who are running out of arguments + you should care what the bill says as any other bill (one should try to understand the details and make the best out it).

the wsj-foxnews-rushie ECONOMIC FREEFALL neocons is the obstruction politico of NO … the manson i mean murdoch family (bod & largest shareholder) are led by foreigners mostly from australia & rupert’s wife’s born in chicom Xuzhou … take the post office i mean health care … the public option costs 1/3 that of fedex & ups … so ups & fedex save & use the po where service is the same & costs are much less … the mansons & chicoms hate the public option … join the fox news sponsor boycott

  14. jjrglobal on November 28th, 2009 5:46 pm

We may not for the first year or so, but once private insurance can no longer compete and goes out of business we will all get the same substandard care. If you dont see that this is just the first step towards a government run system then I cant help you. I dont care what the bill says, there will be loop holes galore throughout the bill. Hell Liberals even misinterpret the most straightforward document we have, the Constitution, they had to in order to justify shit like this health care bill

  15. Diezelraccoon on November 28th, 2009 5:46 pm

If you are looking at the polls from the washington post which is a huge liberal run media source, those numbers are way beyond incorrect. You want truth, go look at the polls on Fox, plus I see millions of Americans everyday saying no to this. Again, government run health care is not about health care, its about power, this has been proven in many other countries, these facts speak clearly, I have nothing more to give but the facts of government run health care

  16. jimpodi on November 28th, 2009 5:46 pm

if you want competition, you don’t really need to involve govt. you can have people purchase insurance across state lines. that will surely encourage insur cos to compete against each other, thus lowering costs. the public option will always prevail against any private insur, causing them to go out of business eventually. thanks to goldsilver for answering your question about mandates.

  17. skinnym974 on November 28th, 2009 5:46 pm

Diezelraccoon: As it stands, the latest Ipsos poll (see my answer to geofiles) show Americans DO want a public option – they just do not seem to like the way it is spelled now. The fear tactics are in my view not productive. I think all should concentrate on finding constructive solutions rather than rejecting in block what as been a constant wished feature for the health care system. If not government run, what will create competition, break monopoly and lower cost to make affordable care?

  18. goldsilverandiamonds on November 28th, 2009 5:46 pm

Skinny – You can find this in section 7201 u.s. code collection title 26, subtitle F chapter 75, subchapeter A, part I -attempt to evade of defeat Tax”Felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to 250,000.00 and or imprisonment of up to 5 years” also see section 7203. This information is very easy to find if you look for it. The Polsi health care mandate allows for fines and jail time if you do not purchase MANDATORY insurance. Evasion of this will result in jail time or huge fines

If my taxes go towards education or to help people who are truly in need then i am ok with that as LONG as its not giving help to someone for years on end cause they dont want to make a difference or work. When government starts talking about spreading the wealth and putting higher taxes on people who make more, or complete government run health care on everyone, then indeed it is socialism, something Americans will not stand for, nor will I and I intend to fight it

  20. skinnym974 on November 28th, 2009 5:46 pm

Diezelraccoon: Ron Paul puts those ideas our clearly (and is pretty convincing at times) so, I think I get your message now. Thank you for explaining and sharing your thoughts. Myself, I would like to think that I pay taxes to do something which make sense such as providing education or health care to the many rather than feeding war and division … Perhaps I have a religious bias but it seems to be the right thing to do (nothing about being socialist). The question is always how.

  21. skinnym974 on November 28th, 2009 5:46 pm

jjrglobal: Then I did not understand your question or you did not understand my pointer to “luxury care”. Hopefully, all is cleared and we can agree we are not all receiving the same care. A question is shall the people with no care at all be afforded one? I would think yes myself as cost for “emergencies” typically exceeds the cost of regular screening and prevention (the diabetic and heart attack earlier ref). Another question is shall the “public option” be run by government. I do not know.

People over the many years have lost touch with what really matters and what the founding fathers based our country on. I am not speaking of democrat or republican, their really is no difference between the two. Republicans are just as much to blame. Its politics who lie and try to convince everyone how great things will be and all they will do, then they do not for the people, only themselves. America is now slowly waking up to the truth behind politics who do not for the people

I’m fairly sure I know how insurance plans and reimbursement works, Im CFO of my wifes children’s clinic.

  24. skinnym974 on November 28th, 2009 5:46 pm

geofiles: In the details of the last IPsos poll, 52% of the Americans (against 36%) are for a public option. That number has not changed. The people opposing the bill as it stands think the bill goes too far (66%) and those supporting it thinks it goes far enough (78%). Finally, while the votes are split on a partisan line, the choice of having a non-government run insurance co-operatives is unilaterally supported. I guess the work to be done should be clear.

  25. skinnym974 on November 28th, 2009 5:46 pm

goldsilverandiamonds: I have read this a few times from comments but I am still looking in locating in the bill where this is factual rather than fictional. Could you please indicate where in the bill this is stated as fact?
